Vroom Website Redesign, Licensed Toolkit CMS Product Design, and Vroom Mobile App

I was the Lead Designer on the Vroom toolkit engagement, leading the program as the sole user researcher and product designer.

The goal of the engagement was to redesign the website, along with design a comprehensive, brand new licensing toolkit for individuals and groups globally to teach the Vroom content to children 1-5.

Design Process for the website

I prototyped the concepts, tested the interface and content with users internationally and worked with a three person engineering team one-on-one to translate the designs into a working CMS.

Below is the new site architecture and high fidelity designs I created for the website redesign that led users into the toolkit.

Designing the licensing toolkit

Below are the designs for key screens within the actual licensing Toolkit, starting with the sign up screens to the approval into the licensing program.

international user testing

Below is the international user research I conducted on the above Toolkit. The goals of the user testing were to gauge comprehension, relatability and readability of content from the landing page on the website through the training material and usability in Modules 0-3.

Results

The results, as is typical, extended the features being tested, and ranged into the entirety of the toolkits audience and overall value.

I prioritized and directed the client on implementation of the feedback and insights within the scope and timeline, helping them build a roadmap for applying insights after our engagement to ensure the users’ feedback and concerns were addressed in the future.

Vroom Mobile App

I led a 4-week discovery and validation phase for the redesign of the Voom mobile application. I conducted foundational research with users, usability research with parents and created a roadmap and strategy for the lead designer to execute on as I transitioned to Principal support on the work. Find the case study here of the work executed on with my direction and support.

Below is a few key artifacts from this process.

First, a few screens below of the user research conducted on the current state Vroom app.

Through the research, it became clear design principles needed to be created in order to ensure the mobile app redesign would align with the findings of the research and will allow the lead designer executing on the redesign to have a central understanding of the product goals.

I created straightforward next steps to address the biggest pain points heard in research. A few are outlined below.

Through research synthesis, I created a waveline to help illustrate the emotional experiences the parents were going through while interacting with the current-state experience of the app.

Transition to principal to support the design + build

I then onboarded a lead designer to take the research and suggestions and execute on the redesign of a responsive application — mobile, tablet and desktop. Here are a few mobile screens the lead designer created with my support.
